Direct Ambulance Delivery Mission
by Yana M. aka Sergeant Maple Syrup

In April/May 2026, my father and I will be purchasing a used ambulance and driving it directly to Ukraine for deployment in frontline and civilian medical evacuation work. Full disclosure: this is completely voluntary and we are not being paid for anything. For more information about where funds will go, a budget breakdown can be found below.

We are coordinating with Drive 2 Save Lives, an established nonprofit in the UK supporting medical and humanitarian response efforts in Ukraine. While volunteers within the organization are sourcing vehicles independently, each vehicle is delivered for structured deployment through their network once inside Ukraine.

Our campaign funds one specific objective: purchase, prepare, and deliver one operational ambulance into Ukraine.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

Ambulances in Ukraine are not symbolic. They are high-turnover, high-risk assets.

Vehicles are frequently damaged, destroyed, or worn down due to:

  • rough terrain

  • long evacuation distances

  • ongoing military activity

  • mechanical strain

A reliable vehicle directly increases survival rates during medical evacuation.

This campaign is not about overhead. It is about putting a working ambulance as quickly and responsibly as possible.

THE PLAN:

1. Purchase a mechanically sound used ambulance.

2. Preform inspection, servicing, and necessary modifications.

3. Equip with essential medical and safety supplies.

4. Add additional medical and humanitarian aid into the ambulance for transport.

5. Drive the vehicle overland into Ukraine.

6. Transfer the ambulance to D2SL's nonprofit-coordinated medical partners for deployment.

BUDGET BREAKDOWN:

  • Used ambulances in Europe can be purchased for $4000-$6000.

  • Basic repairs and preparation costs are estimated to be from $500-$1000.

  • Trauma supplies and medical equipment to be added to the ambulance will cost approximately $1000-$2000

In this campaign, we are not asking for funding flights, fuel costs, accommodation costs, or any other costs associated with our mission. This fundraiser is for the ambulance and its equipment alone.

Ukraine cannot afford to have very old ambulances breaking down often or lacking life-saving equipment. Without the equipment modifications and preparation costs mentioned above, the ambulance is just a van that wee-woos. If we are going to deliver an ambulance, it's going to be what Ukraine deserves: more than the bare minimum.

If funds raised exceed the vehicle cost, remaining funds will be used for:

  • Additional medical and humanitarian supplies

  • Fuel support for Ukrainian medics

  • Direct donation to Drive 2 Save Lives

TRANSPARENCY COMMITMENT:

Donors will receive, where OPSEC allows:

  • Photos of the vehicle at purchase

  • Documentation of servicing

  • Confirmation of handoff in Ukraine

  • Deployment updates where security allows

We understand that trust matters, and we plan to document everything we can that does not compromise our safety.

ABOUT US:

This is a father/daughter-led effort grounded in logistics and accountability. Funds will be used exclusively to obtain this ambulance, and all spending will be documented.

Our objective is simple: put a functioning ambulance into service in Ukraine as efficiently and transparently as possible.

Our connection to Ukraine is not abstract. We have lost family members in this war. Like many families with roots in the region, the consequences of this conflict are not theoretical for us. They are generational, personal, and ongoing. This mission is not about symbolism or politics. It is about preserving life.

We believe in European stability, sovereignty, and the basic principle that people deserve access to medical care, even in war.

Delivering an ambulance is not a grand gesture, it is a practical one and something that my father and I can tangibly do.

If you would like to support our mission, we are eternally grateful.

If you prefer to follow along and share this campaign, that also helps.

Lives are not saved by headlines, but by reliable transport and people willing to help.
